8-Week Evangelism Challenge

8-Week Evangelism Challenge

A Guided Journey to Sharing Your Faith

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."

Welcome to the Challenge

Thank you for starting the Evangelism Challenge! Over the next 8 weeks, you will grow in confidence and practice in sharing your faith with others.

How This Challenge Works

  • Daily Goals - Complete one task each day to build spiritual disciplines and prepare your heart
  • Weekly Goals - One larger goal per week that involves stepping out in faith

The first couple of weeks will focus on personal development. It is recommended to record your answers and anything you learn along the way in a separate journal.

Important Note: This challenge is designed to be a gradual and curated process, but the leading of the Spirit takes precedence. It's about practice and directing our attention to evangelism, not formulas.

Tips for Success

  • Stay "prayed up" and full of the Word - evangelism is most effective this way
  • Keep a journal to record your thoughts, experiences, and growth
  • Don't be discouraged by setbacks - this is a learning process
  • Remember: it's the Spirit's work ultimately, but we can do our part

Week 1 - Foundation & Heart Preparation

Weekly Goal

Accountability can help us stay motivated! Tell someone about this challenge if you are comfortable doing so. Otherwise, ask for an unspoken prayer need.

Daily Goals

Insight

It's when we experience God's forgiveness and grace that we are moved to share it.

Week 2 - Understanding the Gospel

Weekly Goal

Reflect on a conversation (from the past day, week, year) or relationship and how you might have been a better witness for Christ. Do this each day this week.

Daily Goals

Scripture References

Romans 3:10, 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9–10, 10:13, 5:1–2, 8:1

Week 3 - Articulating Your Faith

Weekly Goal

Leave your hand-written gospel tract somewhere in public.

Daily Goals

Week 4 - Sharing Your Story

Weekly Goal

Speak about God in public. For example, say a word of praise, prayer before a meal, simply "God is good," or mention how amazing God's creation is.

Read Psalm 34:1. What is the consequence of this simple habit? See verse 2.

Daily Goals

Milestone Reached!

Congratulations! Having shared your testimony publicly, you are officially an evangelist! There is more to becoming a confident evangelist, but it's truly as simple as that.

Week 5 - Building Confidence

Weekly Goal

Practice directing a conversation toward spiritual things with someone.

Tip

You can subtly mention biblical truths without being confrontational or overly direct. This also allows you to discern where the other person is spiritually. Are they curious, seeking, resistant, or just disinterested? We can't truly know another person's heart, but God can give us discernment.

Daily Goals

Week 6 - Engaging Others

Weekly Goal

Invite someone to your church.

Daily Goals

Encouragement

Hopefully this demonstrates that being an evangelist doesn't mean cornering someone, explaining the 4 spiritual laws, and asking if they will ask Jesus into their heart. These sometimes simple things can lead to open doors for deeper conversation.

Week 7 - Stepping Out in Faith

Weekly Goal

Have someone take the "Are you a good person?" test.

Daily Goals

Week 8 - Living as an Evangelist

Weekly Goal - Choose One

  1. Share your testimony with an unbeliever, giving glory to God.
  2. Talk about God with an unbelieving friend or acquaintance. If you're not sure how, ask them what they think about the Bible, the afterlife, or the soul.
  3. Ask someone if they've ever had the gospel explained to them. If they're open to it, do it.
  4. Ask a stranger if they wouldn't mind answering a few questions. Ask them a few questions about the Bible, then ask if they know Jesus.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes."

Congratulations on completing the 8-Week Evangelism Challenge.

Continue to grow in boldness and love as you share the Good News. Remember, it's the Spirit's work - we simply plant and water the seeds.
