water

The sea is the body of water from which the Earth was drawn. A churning place of chaos that is dangerous to land-dwelling life.

Water in a more moderate form, such as a spring, well, or stream is a source of life and renewal.

Acts as a mirror.

Water surrounds everything:

• The waters above the firmament of Heaven
• In the midst of the heavens as cloud
• Lower heavens or upon the earth as fog/mist
• The sea, which is the bounds the Earth (land).
• The lakes, rivers, streams, pools, and springs which cover the earth.
• The waters under the earth, or the fountains of the deep.

Water is a key symbol of Time and the uncontrollable change of nature, which always surrounds the artificial habitable space created by man and his effort to create order.
