light

May refer to light itself or lights (luminaries, light source).

Light is that which gives sight to the eyes. It is projected from the heavenly bodies or luminaries -the sun, moon, stars, as well as from fire and lightning. These are the only "natural" sources of light.

Symbolically, that which gives knowledge or enlightenment.

Genesis 1:15-16

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.

Genesis 1:3-5

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Matthew 6:22

The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

John 1:4-5

In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
