divination

A primitive form of knowledge based on the observation of seemly chance events, specifically to gain insight that is otherwise limited to the spiritual world. From an objective position, these are merely pointless variations, but within the subtle, subjective realm of interpretation, meaning emerges or is imbued.

Cups (water and other liquids)
Dice, bones, and sticks (lots)
Cards
Urim and Tummim - In the Bible these are understood to reveal the will of God
Stars and other heavenly bodies (astrology)
